Science Slogan Competition
The Science Slogan Competition is a creative science activity organised by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, every year to encourage students to communicate meaningful scientific, environmental and health-related messages in a concise and impactful manner. The activity provides students with an opportunity to combine scientific understanding, creativity, language and visual presentation while expressing an important idea through a short and memorable slogan.
A good science slogan communicates a clear message in very few words. Through this competition, students are encouraged to understand the importance of a given theme, identify its central idea and express that idea in a simple, original and effective form. The activity therefore develops not only creativity in language but also the ability to select, organise and communicate scientific ideas with clarity.
The Science Slogan Competition is conducted for students of Government, Government Aided and Private Unaided recognised schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi. To ensure age-appropriate participation, the competition is organised in three categories:
- Sub-Junior Level for Classes I to V,
- Junior Level for Classes VI to VIII,
- Senior Level for Classes IX to XII.
The participating schools need to organise the competition at the School Level for all students and select one best entry from each level and Regiter them at the link given below for participation at the Zonal Level.
Themes for Academic Session 2026–27
Senior Level — Classes IX to XII: “Science & Environment for Viksit Bharat”
Junior Level — Classes VI to VIII: “Recycle Today for Better Tomorrow”
Sub-Junior Level — Classes I to V: “Healthy Habits, Healthy Life”
The Last Date of Registration is: 17.08.2026
Format of the Slogan
The slogan is required to be prepared on Horizontally on A2 (i.e., Height- 420 mm and Width- 598 mm) size paper only.
Participation and Progression
The competition begins at the School Level, where Heads of Schools need to conduct the Science Based Slogan Competition for students and select one best entry from each level and Regiter them though the link given above for participation at the Zonal Level.
At the Zonal Level, the competitions are organised for registered schools under the jurisdiction of the respective Zonal Conveners. The students securing the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions from each level are forwarded to their respective Science Centres.
The Science Centres subsequently organise the competition among the selected zonal-level participants and forward the students securing the first three positions in each level to the Science Branch for participation at the State Level.
Evaluation of Entries
Entries in the Science Based Slogan Competition are evaluated by the judges on a total of 50 marks under the following criteria:
- Relevance of Theme — 20 marks
- Execution of the Concept — 15 marks
- Overall Visual Appeal — 15 marks
