Science Seminar
Science Seminar is an academic activity which provides students an opportunity to explore contemporary scientific and technological issues, develop their understanding through research and critical thinking, and communicate their ideas effectively before an audience. It aims to develop critical thinking, research aptitude, and effective communication skills while encouraging students to connect classroom learning with real-world challenges. Through active participation, students gain confidence, broaden their understanding of emerging issues, and cultivate a spirit of inquiry and innovation.
The Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi organizes the Science Seminar every year at the School, Zonal, Science Centre and State levels for the school students under its jurisdiction.
For the academic year 2026–27, the theme of the Science Seminar is “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges” (भारतीय ऊर्जा परिदृश्य 2047 : संभावनाएं एवं चुनौतियाँ).
The Seminar is open to all the school students of Classes VIII to X under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi. All the Head of Schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi conduct the Seminar at their school level and select one student for participation at the Zonal Level. The selected participants subsequently progress through the Zonal and Science Centre levels. The participants securing 1st and 2nd Position at the Science Center Level become eligible for the participation at the State Level Science Seminar. The details of the student securing first position at the State Level are forwarded to the National Science Centre for participation in the National Level Science Seminar.

The Last Date of Registration is: 17.08.2026
Duration of the Presentation: Participants shall make his/her presentation on the given topic for a maximum duration of 6 minutes. This will be followed by a two minutes Question-Answer Session with the Judges on the same topic.
A written Aptitude Test: An aptitude test (duration 20 minutes) of 20 questions will be conducted before the presentation in the event of Science Seminar. The test including questions of Short Answer Type, One Word Answer, or MCQs will be designed by the Judges of the Science Seminar. The questions will be based on the given topic of the Science Seminar.
Question-Answer session: After the presentation, each participant will be asked 3(three) questions by the judges and the participants will be required to answer any two questions within two minutes.
Grading: For evaluating and grading the presentation of participants, following criteria will be followed:

Guidelines for Presentation:
Supplementary Visuals: The maximum number of supporting visuals/slides/charts etc. permitted per presentation is restricted to 05 nos. altogether. The details of these are as given below:
a) Charts/Posters-maximum size permitted is 850 mm (width) X 600 mm (height). All charts/posters are to be mounted – one on top of other-as done in a calendar. One side of the chart/poster is considered as one unit. There should be no pop-ups.
b) Computer based Static slides (MS Office 2007 or higher in .ppsx, .pptx, .ppt, .pps format) without additional features like pop-up, animation, rollovers, etc. No interaction within one slide is permitted.
