Science & Mathematics Exhibition
The Science and Mathematics Exhibition (SME) is one of the major academic activities organised by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, every year with the objective of promoting scientific temperament, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving among school students. Through the exhibition, students are encouraged to transform scientific and mathematical ideas into exhibits, working models, static models, and prototypes that demonstrate practical applications of concepts studied in the classroom.
The exhibition provides students with an opportunity to move beyond textbook learning and explore how science, mathematics and technology can be applied to real-life problems. It encourages young learners to observe their surroundings, identify challenges, think independently, develop solutions and present their ideas before teachers, experts and fellow students.
Developing Exhibits and Models by Students:
Students are required to develop exhibit/working model/static model/prototype based on scientific/mathematical principles on the below-mentioned themes and sub-themes for showcasing their ideas in the exhibition. Students should keep in mind that their work is innovative, original or having improvised modifications in the existing knowledge/technology/craftsmanship etc. for the welfare of larger section of the society. The students participating under each category must prepare a write-up about their exhibit/model and submit it at the time of their participation in the State Level Science and Mathematics Exhibition 2026-27. The participants should be aware of the criteria on which their exhibits/models/prototype will be evaluated and they should work on their project accordingly. During the exhibition, the participating students are required to explain:
- the problem or idea addressed by the project,
- the scientific or mathematical principle involved,
- how the model works,
- its possible applications, and
- the significance of the proposed idea.
Theme and Sub-themes for Science and Mathematics Exhibtion 2026-27
Theme: “Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sustainable and Viksit Bharat”
1. Sub-themes for Science Exhibition under the First Category (Category Code- C1):
i. Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Better Life.
ii. Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation.
iii. Science for Rural Transformation.
2. Sub-themes for Science Exhibition under the Second Category (Category Code- C2):
i. Green Energy & Environmental Conservation.
ii. Indigenous Agricultural Practices.
iii. Disaster Management.
3. Sub-themes for Mathematics Exhibition under the third Category (Category Code- C3):
“Mathematical Modelling and Computational Thinking”.
Participation at the School Level
All the Students from Government, Government Aided, and Private Unaided recognised schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi are eligible to participate in the exhibition. Heads of Schools are required to conduct the exhibition at the School Level under all three categories—C1, C2, and C3. The exhibits and models are evaluated by a panel consisting of three Science Teachers (PGTs of Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics/Computer Science or Senior TGTs of Natural Science/Mathematics/Computer Science) headed by the Principal/ Head of the School. No remuneration will be paid to such teachers/HoS in the panel for the said purposes. (The evaluation criteria of the entries are given below on this page).
After evaluation, the school may select only one best exhibit/model from each category for registration and further participation at the Zonal Level Science and Mathematics Exhibition. Each selected exhibit or model can have a maximum of two students and one guide teacher.
Schools willing to participate in the Zonal Level Science and Mathematics Exhibition for the session 2026-27 are required to register themselves on or before the last date (i.e., 30.10.2026) with the details of the selected students and models through the link given below:
Organizing the Exhibition at various Levels
The Science and Mathematics Exhibition follows a structured progression as given below:
Zonal Level → Science Centre Level → State Level→ National Level
- Zonal Level: All zonal conveners under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi organize the Exhibition for all the registered schools under their jurisdiction as per the schedule given below. One entry having only two students and one guide teacher from each category per school (i.e., maximum three entries from one school is allowed to participate at zonal level ensuring that each entry must be from different category) is permitted to participate at Zonal Level. Thereafter, the Zonal Conveners send the details of selected entries for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position for each sub-theme under each category code i.e., C1, C2, and C3 to their respective Science Centre. Zonal Conveners may nominate a panel of maximum 14 Judges for the evaluation of exhibits/models. The Judges should not be below the post of Principal/Vice Principal having Science Background or Sr. PGTs of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
- Science Centre Level: The Science Centres organize the Exhibition for selected entries at the zonal level as per the schedule given below and subsequently send the details of the entries selected for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position for each sub-themes under each category C1 , C2, and C3 to the Science Branch for further participation at State Level. In-charge of Science Centres may nominate a panel of 14 Judges for the evaluation of exhibits/models. The Judges should not be below the post of Principal/Vice Principal with Science/Mathematics/Computer Science Background.
- State Level: State Level Science and Mathematics Exhibition (SME) – 2026-27 will be organized for all the entries selected by Science Centres of Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi. The seminar on the topics 1. “STEM for Climate Action” 2. “Non-Communicable diseases: Causes abd Preventive Measures” will also be organized one day before the organization of the SME or during the days of exhibition. The expert/scientists for the seminar will be preferably from a research institute/laboratory/university/SCERT/SIE. In the state level, three best entries from each sub-theme of every category will be selected for the participation at National Level.

Guidelines for Principals/HoSs for participation in the Exhibition
1- HoSs of all schools of DoE, GNCT of Delhi will ensure maximum participation of students at their school level so that the best entries can be selected for participation in the Exhibition at the Zonal level.
2- After selection of the entries for the exhibition at school level, registration of the participating students will be made by the HoS/Principal only by submitting the registration form through the link given above. No other mode of registration for participation in the exhibition will be entertained at any level.
3- The Last Date of Registration by schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi in the Science and Mathematics Exhibition is to be declared.
4- After registration, the students along with their exhibit/model will participate in the exhibition as per specified time, date, and location as informed by their respective Zonal Conveners (Click here for the Details of the Zonal Conveners and Science Centers).
5- All the HoSs of Govt./Govt. Aided/Pvt. Unaided recognized schools of DoE need to adhere with the guidelines given herewith and the instructions given by their respective Zonal Conveners and Science Centres. Any violation of the same may cause rejection from participation at any level.
6- The students and guide teacher of the Registered Schools must bring any one of the following to their respective zonal convener/science centre at the time of their physical participation- 1. Attested copy of the submitted Google form received at their e-mail; 2. School ID cards of the Students and Guide/Escort Teacher; 3. Authority Letter duly attested by the concerned HoS.
7- Mere registration for the science exhibition does not confirm participation of the school. They are required to physically participate in the above exhibition as per the time and place given by their respective Zonal Convener/Science Centre.
8- In case of any dispute regarding evaluation of the entries in the exhibition at any level, the judgement made by the panel of judges of the respective sub-theme in the exhibition shall be final and binding on all the concerned.
9- Safety and security of the students shall be paramount and observed by all the concerned HoSs/Guide Teacher/Escort Teacher of the participating students.
